So, you decided to take the AP Exam - congratulations! Your assignment as we approach the AP Exam is to construct your own version of this year's exam. Here's what you will be doing...

Your exam should have the following:

  1. A cover page with a name for your exam (along with the names of the members of your group)
  2. 80 Multiple Choice Questions (matching the percentage of questions that should come from that unit based on the Course Guide)
  3. One DBQ Question (featuring at least 10 Primary Source Documents) - topic assigned based on your group number and can't be copied from another source
  4. Six non-document based essay questions (one for each Unit covered)
    • You may create your own OR take existing questions from the test banks, previous AP Exams, or from review books
  5. Provide an answer key in the following format for the multiple choice questions:
    • The correct answer / Unit question is from / Type of Question
  6. Provide a rubric for the DBQ Question
    • Guide on how to create a DBQ Rubric can be found here
  7. Provide a rubric for all the Essay Questions
    • If taken from past AP Exams, the rubrics for most questions are found here (you may need to set-up a free account to access).
  8. A bibliography of sources (for questions, maps, documents, etc.)



Assigned roles (for groups of six)

  1. Develop multiple choice questions (20) and essay question (1) for Unit I
    • Include multiple choice answers in the format found above AND rubric for the essay question
  2. Develop multiple choice questions (20) and essay question (1) for Unit II
    • Include multiple choice answers in the format found above AND rubric for the essay question
  3. Develop multiple choice questions (20) and essay questions (2) for Unit III and Unit IV
    • 10 multiple choice questions per Unit / one essay per Unit
    • Include multiple choice answers in the format found above AND rubrics for the essay questions
  4. Develop multiple choice questions (20) and essay questions (2) for Unit V and Unit VI
    • 10 multiple choice questions per Unit / one essay per Unit
    • Include multiple choice answers in the format found above AND rubrics for the essay questions
  5. Develop the DBQ and DBQ rubric (based on Unit provided by Mr. Freccia)
  6. Central organizer - the person who will format everyone's work into a cohesive format
    • - use this as a guide to format your project
    • Check for spelling errors and grammatical problems / double check answers
    • Fill-out a Scantron key (see Mr. Freccia)
    • In charge of turning in a paper copy and a digital copy for their team



Scoring

  1. Students will be graded on their own work depending on their role in the project (25 points)
    • It is advised that you "carbon copy" Mr. Freccia when sending your part to the "central organizer" in order to prove promptness
    • "Central organizer" deadlines need to be met, otherwise a deduction will occur for your portion
    • If a problem develops with a member of your group OR if if the work they turn-in requires extra effort for other members, the "central organizer" should notify Mr. Freccia ASAP
    • This is an EFFORT grade - you do what you are told (and do a quality job) you will get full credit
    • Your project is due on Wednesday, April 18th at the beginning of class
  2. Level of difficulty (25 points)
    • The other five groups will take your exam
    • The combined average of three teams will result in your score (top and bottom performing averages will be thrown out)
    • The average score is a 3.14 on this exam (62.8% of the questions correct or 50 questions out of 80 on the multiple choice)
      • Within five questions of median - 25 points
      • Within ten questions of median - 20 points
      • Within fifteen questions of median - 15 points
      • Over or under fifteen questions from median - 5 points
  3. Group score (25 points)
    • All members of the group take the exam together
    • The combined average of your scores on four exams will result in your grade (lowest exam score thrown-out)
      • 70-80 (A "Mr. Freccia" five on the multiple choice / 25 points + 10 extra credit + lunch)
      • 60-69 (A "Mr. Freccia" four on the multiple choice / 25 points + lunch)
      • 50-59 (A "Mr. Freccia" three on the multiple choice / 20 points + lunch)
      • 40-49 (A "Mr. Freccia" two on the multiple choice / 15 points)
      • 39 and below (A "Mr. Freccia" one on the multiple choice / 10 points)
  4. DBQ and essay scores (25 points)
    • Each group will be given another group's essays and DBQ
    • Individually, each member of the group will answer two essays (Day 1) and the DBQ (Day 2)
